English Definition
neurosci. A nucleus in the amygdala, this receives sensory information from the primary sensory cortex, the association cortex and the thalamus. It projects fibres to the hypothalamus, midbrain, pons and medulla and is involved in coordinating the various components that make up the expression of emotional responses.
